ORIGEN

About

Our Story

Origen means origin — a return to where a stone, and a story, begins.

Growing up around jewellery my entire life, watching my father at the bench, craftsmanship was second nature. But I wanted to dedicate myself entirely to one stone: the Colombian emerald.

In 2012, after completing my gemological training at the GIA London campus, I moved to Colombia to immerse myself at the source. I spent years working at CDTEC in Bogotá — the country's foremost gemological laboratory and emerald research institute — analysing inclusions, treatments and provenance. For over eight years I lived and worked inside the Colombian trade, regularly travelling to the historic mining regions of Boyacá and Cundinamarca, including Muzo, Chivor and Gachalá.

In 2019, I returned to London and founded Origen Jewellery. Origen is spelt the way we say it in Spanish — a direct tribute to Colombia as the world's pre-eminent emerald origin, producing stones of unmatched fire and character.

What we believe

Fewer, better pieces. Stones chosen for character. Designs meant to be worn, not kept in a box.

Selected by hand at the source

Every single emerald that passes through Origen is personally selected by me. Every stone is evaluated for genuine colour, life and natural jardín — never bought unseen or from bulk parcels.

Crafted with total involvement

I remain hands-on through the entire creation of each piece — from the initial sketch and CAD modelling to the 3D-printed resin and final hand-finishing in 18k gold and platinum.

Inspected before it leaves

No piece of jewellery is delivered until it has passed through my hands for a final inspection, ensuring it meets the standards of a lifetime of wear.
